9. watch the light
if it is a sunny day, be careful! too much sun can create unnecessary shadows, or harsh light on your subject's face. cloudy days have the best lighting for taking pictures of people. lighting makes or breaks a photo.
10. be a picture director
in order to take great (posed) group photos one must be a 'picture director.' move around your subjects and your camera to find the best arrangement. move in close to eliminate empty space. take control, but be sure to have fun with your subjects.
